Brew Something Bigger than Beer this Giving Tuesday

by | Dec 1, 2020

Amidst the rush of flash sales, hot deals and holiday shopping, #GivingTuesday reminds us to press pause and give back. Giving Tuesday is an internationally recognized holiday dedicated to finding ways that we can better our communities through charitable giving – a day when millions of people and organizations across the globe are inspired to contribute to causes that mean something to them.

Yakima Chief Hops has a limited selection of Community Hop Blends that offer brewers a way to give back year around, while brewing unique, delicious beers with an even greater purpose. Both of our Community Blends contribute to mission-driven, 501(c) 3 non-profit organizations that rely entirely on generous donations and have a direct impact on important social causes.

Veterans Blend

Yakima Chief Hops created the Veterans Blend in an effort to support the men and women of the US military and show our appreciation for all they have sacrificed for our country. Each year, a different nonprofit organization in support of the Veteran community is chosen to receive a contribution from the Veteran Blend.

For our 3rd Annual Veterans Blend, YCH will be making a charitable donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation, whose mission is to serve and honor America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. More information on the Gary Sinise Foundation can be found at www.garysinisefoundation.org/

Yakima Chief Hops is not only proud to provide a fiscal donation to military Veterans, but we are also passionate about connecting military heroes from field to pint through this Community Blend. Each year, we collaborate with military Veteran brewers representing multiple branches of the US Armed Forces to select a different hop blend and brew beers in honor of our military heroes. With this Community Blend, we inspire brewers to multiply our efforts and show their individual support for Veterans.

Homebrewers can purchase our 3rd Annual Veterans Blend via our online store HERE.

Pink Boots Blend

The Pink Boots Blend was created in partnership with Pink Boots Society, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to women in the brewing profession. $3 per pound sold of the Pink Boots Blend is donated to the Pink Boots Society Scholarship fund. In turn, the scholarship program is used to help women in the beer and brewing industry attend educational seminars, classes and certifications and tours. Open to women anywhere in the world who are actively employed in the beer industry, these opportunities empower women to advance their careers through education.

The Pink Boots Blend is a truly collaborative hop product, as more than 100 women come together to rub and select the hops for the blend. Brewers all over the world use it to create beers in celebration of women each year, becoming a movement in the brewing industry. Since 2018, more than $257,000 has been contributed to the Pink Boots Society scholarship fund from the sale of the Pink Boots Blend. Yakima Chief Hops is passionate about celebrating and supporting women in beer, as we continuously work to promote diversity within our industry.
